News: Habitat will be building this Summer, volunteers welcome!
MUMC has been involved with Habitat for Humanity since 1997
Habitat for Humanity of Medina County is an ecumenical, Christian housing ministry that seeks to eliminate poverty housing from the world and endeavors to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. Through volunteer labor, management experts, and tax deductible donations of money and materials, Habitat builds and rehabilitates homes with the help of the homeowner., Houses are sold at no profit to partner families and no interest mortgages are issued over a fixed period. Small monthly mortgage payments, including taxes and insurance, are repaid over an average of 20 years and deposited into a revolving “Fund For Humanity” which supports the construction of additional houses. Constructing is a cooperative effort between volunteers and home recipients. In seeking to build both the tangible and spiritual aspects of a community, Habitat proclaims the love of Christ in both word and deed and aims, always to glorify God.
Since 2005, Habitat completed 14 homes in Medina County. A home was built on an vacant lot in Medina City this past Summer. Plans for future builds in the County are underway.
