Medina Community Services Center

MUMC has supported the Community Service Center for over 15 years.  Several of our church members are volunteers at the Center.  As a church, we have donated food, used clothing, household items, furniture, toys, toiletries, personal items, and bedding.  In August, we specifically collect funds for school shoes and supplies.  In addition, various UMW Circles hold a meeting at the Center each year and donate items which are needed by the Center.

The Service Center is a place where immediate relief can be found by people who are faced with dire circumstances such as the loss of a home as a result of a fire, sudden or long-standing unemployment, medical care, no food, and other similar situations.

The Service Center provides the basic necessities of food through their food pantry,as well as clothing, and limited help with utilities and prescription medicine.  They also provide  counseling services, they give lessons on budgeting, they offer basic cooking and nutrition classes and help clients with referrals to other agencies.

Many churches and community groups make this well organized and invaluable community service a reality.  It is a fine example of many persons coming together in a unified way to meet the needs of the disadvantaged in our community.
